New York Mets Sign Former Playoff Hero & NLCS MVP

The New York Mets have bolstered their outfield depth by signing veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario to a minor league deal, with plans for him to report to Triple-A Syracuse.

Rosario, best known for his postseason heroics with the Atlanta Braves in 2021, has struggled during the 2024 season, posting a .175 batting average with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs across 91 games split between the Washington Nationals and a brief second stint with the Braves.

Despite his recent struggles, the Mets see potential in Rosario's experience and are hopeful he can rediscover the form that made him a key player in the Braves' World Series run.

Rosario's signing comes as the Mets continue to navigate a crowded and injury-affected outfield situation at the major league level.

With key players like Starling Marte nearing a return from injury and recent acquisitions such as Jesse Winker adding to the mix, Rosario's addition provides seasoned depth in the minors.

The Mets are taking a low-risk chance on Rosario, whose postseason performance in 2021, particularly his MVP-winning efforts in the NLCS, highlighted his ability to deliver in high-pressure situations.

If Rosario can find his swing in Triple-A, he could become a valuable asset for the Mets as they push for a playoff spot.

His experience, combined with his potential to provide power, makes him a nice addition to the Mets' roster, ensuring they have options should they need to call on additional outfield help in the crucial final months of the season.
