Marlins DFA Former 1st-Round Pick For Second Time This Season

For the second time this season, the Miami Marlins have designated outfielder Forrest Wall for assignment, as he's had a difficult time securing a consistent role at the major league level.

Wall, 28, was claimed off waivers from the Atlanta Braves in late July and has since spent most of his time in Triple-A with the Marlins, where he posted a .292/.382/.333 line over 55 plate appearances.

Despite his brief but impressive showing in the majors this season—batting .311/.380/.422 across just 50 plate appearances—his overall offensive production in the minors has been less compelling.

The Marlins' decision to DFA Wall comes as they needed to clear space for right-hander Mike Baumann, recently claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels.

While Wall’s speed remains an asset—he's stolen 155 bases in the minors since 2021—his struggles to produce consistent offense have limited his opportunities in the majors.

As the Marlins continue to adjust their roster, Wall will be placed on waivers once again, potentially drawing interest from teams looking for a left-handed outfielder with base-stealing capabilities and minor league options remaining.
