Los Angeles Angels Release 2 Left-Handed Pitchers

The Los Angeles Angels have released veteran left-handed relievers Amir Garrett and Adam Kolarek, both of whom were recently part of their Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees.

Garrett, 32, had a brief stint with the Angels' major league bullpen earlier this season, making six appearances before being designated for assignment in May.

After electing free agency, Garrett re-signed with the Angels on a minor league deal, where he showed flashes of his potential with a 1.59 ERA over his last eight Triple-A outings.

Despite these improvements, his overall numbers included a 4.78 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 33 strikeouts across 26.1 innings.

With the team out of playoff contention and looking to evaluate younger arms for the future, the Angels opted to release Garrett.

Adam Kolarek, 35, faced similar challenges, spending the entire season in Triple-A after signing a $900K deal in the offseason.

Despite a strong major league track record, Kolarek struggled with a 6.97 ERA over 31 innings in Salt Lake.

His elevated walk rate and average strikeout numbers ultimately contributed to his release.
