Danny Jansen Makes Baseball History on Monday With Bizarre Feat
For the first time in major league baseball history, a player is in the lineup for BOTH teams in the same game, as the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox complete a rain-delayed contest on Monday.
Today, Danny Jansen will become the first player in MLB history to play for both teams in the same game when the Blue Jays and Red Sox resume their suspended clash. 🤯

The game on June 26th was suspended with one out in the top of the second inning, with Jansen up at bat for the Blue Jays with an 0-1 count. He has since then been traded to the Red Sox. So when the game resumes at 2pm on Monday, Jansen will be pinch-hit for by Toronto, while he is actually squatting behind the plate as the catcher for Boston.
“Baseball has been around for so long, there’s so many things that’s happened in the game. So I was surprised when I found out I was the first,” Jansen said in the lead up to this historic occasion. “Any time you can be a part of this great game’s history, it’s pretty unique.”
Jays manager John Schneider needed to make plenty of other changes to his lineup as this bizarre game resumes: Bo Bichette was batting leadoff, Justin Turner at cleanup, Isiah Kiner-Falefa was in the 8-spot and Kevin Kiermaier was batting 9th. All but Bichette have since been traded. And Bichette has been out with an injury for several weeks, and is not in Monday's lineup either.
