Breaking: Yankees Get Disastrous News on Jazz Chisholm

Well, this isn't what the New York Yankees needed. Just when they'd finally found a sparkplug to electrify their offense outside of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, injury strikes. Jazz Chisholm, who'd been hitting .316 with a 1.062 OPS since coming over to the Bronx two weeks ago, is now out with a UCL injury, and they are determining if surgery is necessary.

Chisholm has exploded in his time in Pinstripes, blasting seven HRs in just 14 games, and the team has gone 9-5 in those contests, averaging 6.07 runs per game. But he will now go on the 10-day injured list, per manager Aaron Boone, with the injury to the UCL in his left elbow. Fortunately, the injury is not to his throwing arm.

In addition to the .316 average, Chisholm had an on-base percentage of .361 with the Yankees, and an insane .702 slugging percentage. His OPS+ was 189.

What will the Yankees do now to give the offense that lift that Chisholm was providing?

If there is perhaps one silver lining to this tough blow, it is that maybe... just maybe... the team will now be forced to finally re-call their top prospect and hitting monster (or should we say "Martian") Jasson Dominguez.

Bringing him up to play the outfield, however, would mean abandoning their presumed plan of holding him down in order to keep a limit on his service time and maintain his rookie status for next year, thus delaying his free agency by another year. Perhaps their hand will now be forced.
