Breaking: Shocking News Revealed on Mike Trout

Yes, we're calling it shocking, just because it stings badly every time it happens. Most baseball fans, however, will likely not be too surprised to hear that Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout has now been declared out for the season due to another meniscus tear.

Trout had surgery at the beginning of May to address a torn meniscus, but after nearly four months of rehab and recovery, he has apparently suffered another meniscus tear in his knee. He was on a rehab assignment in July with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees, but had to leave a game just over a week ago with " left knee soreness".

The news comes just six days shy of his 33rd birthday, and it's another devastating blow to the Angels, and to one of the game's all-time great players, who just hasn't been able to stay healthy for the last eight seasons, really, although he did win his 3rd MVP in 2019 despite playing in only 134 games.

Trout posted a message to fans on social media, calling the news "devastating", "heartbreaking", and "frustrating."

“After months of hard work, I was devastated yesterday when an MRI showed a tear in my meniscus that will require surgery again – ending my hopes of returning this season," wrote Trout. "...This is equally as heartbreaking and frustrating for me as it is for you, the fans. I understand that I may have disappointed many, but believe me, I will do everything I can to come back even stronger. I will continue to help my team and teammates from the dugout as we press forward into the second half of the season. Thank you for your support.”

Trout's games played over the last five seasons read like this: 29, 82, 119, 36, 53. He has missed 382 games the past four seasons.

For his career, in addition to the 3 MVPs, the superstar outfielder has batted .299 with a .991 OPS and a 173 OPS+ that is best among all current active major leaguers.

It is another sad day for baseball fans, who will once again have to wait another season to watch Mike Trout play ball.
