The main return for the Blue Jays: outfield prospect Jonatan Clase.
Garcia was one of the best RP available this deadline. Seattle remaining busy.
Garcia has been dominant this season, with 12.6 K/9 and a 42:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 30 innings. He's held opposing batters to a .154 average and a .526 OPS. He has a 2.70 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP.
Seattle Mariners GM Justin Hollander is thrilled to bring in the Dominican righty. “Yimi has been one of the best relievers in the American League this year – dominating the strike zone, missing bats and pitching in high leverage.”
Garcia joins a back end of the bullpen in Seattle that also includes Andres Munoz and Ryne Stanek.
In return, the Jays receive outfielder Jonatan Clase and catcher Jacob Sharp.
Clase, 22, has plenty of speed, and ranked 10th on the Mariners prospects list. He has, in fact, been touted as the fastest runner in Seattle’s farm system, as evidenced by his 79 stolen bases in 2023 between High-A and Double-A. He launched 20 homers to boot. Clase has been with the M's recently, batting just .195 in 41 at-bats. He has been assigned to Triple-A Buffalo.
Sharp, also 22, is slashing .255/.339/.435 in Low A Ball. He's been assigned to High-A.
