TRADE: Eloy Jimenez Dealt To AL Contender

With the rebuild in full-on mode, the Chicago White Sox obviously have no use whatsoever for slugger Eloy Jimenez any longer, but American League East-leading Baltimore Orioles have decided to roll the dice and take a shot on the power-packed outfielder.

The White Sox, no doubt, are just happy to be out from under Jimenez's contract. He was earning $13 million in the final year of a six-year, $43 million contract. He has a $16 million team option on next season and an $18 million team option on 2026.

Jimenez looked like he was going to be one of baseball's top power hitters when he began his promising career, but he has spent far more time on the injured list than on the field over the past five years. He slugged 31 homers in his rookie season, but has never been able to even reach 20 since then, mostly due to his game-played totals: 55, 55, 84, 120 and 65 this season.

He'll now be another power-bat option for the Orioles down the stretch, assuming he stays healthy. He has just five homers and 16 RBIs in 224 at-bats this season.
