Seattle Mariners & New York Mets Complete Trade

The New York Mets have made a move to strengthen their bullpen by acquiring right-handed reliever Ryne Stanek from the Seattle Mariners. 

According to multiple sources, including Jon Heyman of The Post and Andy Martino of SNY, the Mets traded minor league outfield prospect Rhylan Thomas in exchange for the hard-throwing Stanek.

This acquisition comes at a crucial time, just four days before the trade deadline, as the Mets aim to solidify their pitching staff amid injury concerns and a push for postseason contention.

Ryne Stanek, who recently turned 33, brings both experience and high velocity to the Mets' bullpen, averaging over 98 MPH on his fastball. 

Despite an uneven performance this season, with a 4.38 ERA and 44 strikeouts over 39 innings, Stanek's potential as a setup option or middle reliever adds valuable depth.

The Mets also recently added Phil Maton from the Rays, showcasing their strategy of reinforcing the bullpen without expending significant prospect capital.

In return, the Mariners receive Rhylan Thomas, a 24-year-old outfielder and the Mets' No. 30 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. 

Thomas has shown promise in the minor leagues with a .265 batting average across Double-A and Triple-A this season.
