Report: Noah Syndergaard Makes Big Decision On MLB Comeback

He's been out of the major leagues since last season, and now former flamethrower Noah Syndergaard is realizing he'll need to make some drastic changes if he is to have a shot at returning to The Show.

According to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, Syndergaard "plans to revamp things, lose some weight and shoot for a comeback next season."

The last we saw of 'Thor', he was struggling in 2023 to a 6.50 ERA in 88 innings split between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cleveland Guardians. His strikeout rate is way down from his pre-Tommy John surgery days earlier in his career, to just 5.7 K/9, from the 10+ strikeouts per nine he was used to.

Syndergaard was once one of the top up-and-coming pitchers in baseball, but that was a decade ago. He helped lead the New York Mets to the World Series in 2015 and was an All-Star as a 23-year-old in 2016.

Since trying to come back from missing two seasons, due to Tommy John, he earned contracts of $21 million for the 2022 season, then $13 million last year. Those days are gone, however, and he will likely have to settle for a minor league deal in 2025.
