Report: LA Dodgers Talking Major Blockbuster With Chicago White Sox

The Los Angeles Dodgers are, as expected, atop the National League West Division. By a comfortable margin, at that, with a 7.5 game lead going into Sunday's games.

But that doesn't mean they're satisfied going into the playoffs with what they've got. According to a report by baseball insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Dodgers are talking a major blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox that would potentially land them a high-end starting pitcher, a premium center fielder and a solid arm for the back end of the bullpen.

The Dodgers are very interested in adding Garret Crochet to their rotation, Luis Robert Jr. to their outfield, and even hard-throwing Michael Kopech to their bullpen.

Crochet is expected to be the top starting pitcher changing teams at this month's trade deadline (unless the Detroit Tigers trade Cy Young favorite Tarik Skubal), as the White Sox' first-year starter has had a breakthrough season, leading the league in strikeouts with 150 in just 107 innings. That gives him a major league-leading 12.6 K/9.

The Dodgers' rotation has been ravaged by injuries this season, and Crochet would be a huge add.

Robert Jr. has massive power and speed, and, if he can stay healthy, would plug a huge void in the outfield and in the lineup.

Kopech has insane stuff, and is sitting at 12.3 K/9 in the Pale Hose bullpen, but his control has been off, with five walks per nine innings, limiting his effectiveness. Who doesn't think the Dodgers can address that and turn him into a major asset?

LA has some prospects to deal, and we'll see if the White Sox go for this massive blockbuster move.
