Proposed Trade Package Would Land Jazz Chisholm With Yankees

With Jazz Chisholm almost certain to be dealt by the Miami Marlins, the New York Yankees have cropped up as a potential (likely?) landing spot.

Zach Scott of SNY has proposed a five-player deal that could get the former All-Star to the Bronx. It would look like this:

Yankees receive:
  • CF/2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  • RP Tanner Scott

Marlins receive:
  • OF Spencer Jones (NYY #2 prospect)
  • SP Will Warren (#7 prospect)
  • INF Jorbit Vivas (#15)

With this trade, the Yankees address two major issues, landing themselves another live bat for the lineup, as well as a lockdown high-leverage left-handed reliever to roll out at the end of games.

In Chisholm, they get an energy player who can slot in either in the outfield or at second base, and a player who's shown a lot of upside, despite his durability issues, playing over 97 games in a season only once in four full major league seasons.

Scott is one of the top bullpen arms on the trade market, with 14 saves this season, a 1.34 ERA and an insanely low .134 batting average against. He has surrendered just 18 hits in 40.1 innings. Wow.

It's a high price the Yankees would be paying, however, including the team's No. 2 prospect, the 6'6" outfielder Spencer Jones, a first-round pick in the MLB Draft in 2022.

It would be a very nice boost to the farm system for the Fish, who might try to reel in a trade like that.
