NY Mets Sign Former Gold Glove Outfielder

The New York Mets have said they "prefer to add" at the trade deadline, and they made a step in that direction on Tuesday, sort of, signing a former All-Star and Gold Glove outfielder, Jackie Bradley Jr.

The 34-year-old has bounced around in recent years, playing with four different teams in the past three years, and this year was relegated to signing with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball.

But he showed that he's still got some magic, with an outstanding performance in that league.

Jackie Bradley Jr. to the Mets has finally come full circle, as they have signed the 34-year-old outfielder. Here are his numbers with the Long Island Ducks this season:

Bradley Jr. hit .400 with the Ducks, with 12 homers, 35 RBIs and a 1.204 OPS.

He has a career .225 average in 11 major league seasons, a mark which was hit hard by the previous three years in which he batted .163 with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2021, .203 with the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays in 2022, and .133 with the KC Royals last year.

JBJ was an All-Star in the 2016 season during a long run with the Red Sox, and won a Gold Glove for his work there in center field in 2018.

The Mets hope he'll be a nice depth piece for their outfield, and pinch-runner as well.
