MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees Pursuing A BIG Name In Trade Talks

The New York Yankees are reportedly among six teams expressing strong interest in trading for San Francisco Giants pitcher Blake Snell ahead of the MLB trade deadline. 

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Snell's trade status is "complicated" as the Giants deliberate their approach. 

Snell has been exceptional since rejoining the rotation on July 9, giving up just two runs over 24 innings pitched. 

His recent performance, including a 15-strikeout game against the Colorado Rockies, marks a significant turnaround from his early-season struggles, where he posted a 9.51 ERA over his first six starts before a groin strain sidelined him.

The Yankees are particularly motivated to strengthen their starting rotation, which has been inconsistent this season. 

Four of their five regular starters have an ERA over 4.00, including ace Gerrit Cole, who has not yet regained his rhythm. 

The Yankees' interest in Snell is heightened by his more palatable contract terms, following his two-year, $62 million deal with the Giants, which includes an opt-out after this season. 

This potential acquisition would add to their luxury tax bill but is seen as a crucial move for bolstering their playoff chances. Their recent acquisition of outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins shows their aggressive approach to strengthening their roster for a postseason push.

Snell's resurgence has made him a valuable asset for the Giants, complicating their decision to trade him as they remain in the hunt for a wild-card spot. 

Despite his injury setbacks, Snell has demonstrated his ability to dominate in the second half of the season, reminiscent of his performance last year.
