MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees "Eyeing Multiple Players" As Deadline Draws Near

As the July 30 trade deadline nears, the New York Yankees are intensifying their search for bullpen reinforcements to bolster their postseason chances.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees have compiled an extensive list of relief targets, including Miami Marlins closer Tanner Scott, Tampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks, and Washington Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan.

This move comes in response to recent bullpen struggles, highlighted by closer Clay Holmes' league-leading seven blown saves, despite his 21 saves ranking seventh in MLB.

The Yankees' recent slump, which has seen them lose five of their last eight games, proves their urgent need for reliable late-inning options.

Tanner Scott has emerged as a primary target for the Yankees, boasting an impressive 1.18 ERA and extensive experience in high-leverage roles.

His performance has attracted interest from multiple teams, making him a likely candidate to be traded before the deadline.

The Yankees' interest in Scott is part of a broader strategy to secure at least two relievers to fortify their bullpen, addressing a key weakness as they strive to reclaim their early-season dominance.

Alongside Scott, the Yankees are also considering other high-leverage options such as Fairbanks and Finnegan, reflecting their aggressive approach to the trade market.
