MLB Trade Rumors: Randy Arozarena Has Firm Interest From World Series Contender

Randy Arozarena is one of the top trade candidates the Tampa Bay Rays are dangling this week. He's best known for his playoff heroics, beginning even before his official rookie season in 2021, in the 2020 postseason.

One team that had a close-up look at Arozarena during the 2020 playoffs and World Series was the Los Angeles Dodgers (who of course beat the Rays in six games for the championship). Now the Dodgers would like to bring Arozarena over to the other side.

Arozarena won the ALCS MVP that year, then batted .364 with a 1.234 OPS in the World Series against LA, with three home runs. The Dodgers have apparently not forgotten, and now are interested in seeing Arozarena do that in Dodger Blue.

The former Rookie of the Year is having a strange season in Tampa, with career-low marks in batting average (.209) and OPS (.707), yet he's blasted 15 home runs (on pace for a career-high) along with 15 stolen bases.

No doubt adding him to the star-studded Dodgers lineup during a playoff run would bring out the best in the 29-year-old.

His stunning career postseason marks are as follows:

  • .336 average
  • .414 on-base pct.
  • .690 slugging pct.
  • 1.104 OPS
  • 11 HR in 33 games

The Dodgers should be laser-focused on acquiring Arozarena. Their left field production has been... well, out in left field this season, sitting 26th in the majors in OPS and slugging.

The trade deadline arrives at 6pm ET on Tuesday, July 30th.
