MLB Trade Rumors: Phillies Interested In 2 Top Starters In Trade Market
As the 2024 MLB Trade Deadline approaches, the Philadelphia Phillies, boasting an MLB-best 63 wins, are actively seeking to bolster their rotation.
Despite their current rotation leading the Majors in ERA, FIP, and Wins Above Replacement, the Phillies are looking to further strengthen their pitching staff for a deep playoff push.
According to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the team has identified Detroit Tigers' Jack Flaherty and Chicago White Sox's Garrett Crochet as primary trade targets.

The Phillies are hopeful that Taijuan Walker will return to their @MLB rotation in August. @MLBNetwork
Jack Flaherty, 28, is having a stellar rebound season with the Tigers, recording a 3.13 ERA with 127 strikeouts and only 17 walks in 100.2 innings.
His consistent performance has made him one of the most coveted starters on the market. Flaherty offers the Phillies a reliable option to solidify their rotation and provide insurance against potential injuries, such as the recent issues faced by Taijuan Walker.
Adding Flaherty would allow the Phillies to maintain their aggressive approach this season and potentially shift one of their existing starters to a multi-inning relief role during the postseason.

Garrett Crochet, 25, recently made the All-Star team and is striking out 12.6 batters per nine innings, the best rate in the sport.
Although he is on an innings limit, Crochet's potential and versatility make him a valuable addition.
As a left-handed pitcher who can contribute both as a starter and a reliever, Crochet would enhance the Phillies' bullpen depth and offer strategic flexibility.
Acquiring Crochet would likely require parting with top prospect Andrew Painter, but his current performance and future potential make him a worthwhile investment.
