MLB Trade Rumors: Orioles Surprisingly "Willing To Trade Two Key Players"

The Baltimore Orioles are reportedly open to discussing trades for veterans Ryan Mountcastle and Cedric Mullins, as highlighted by ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Ryan Mountcastle, a first-round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, has become a staple in the Orioles' lineup. The 27-year-old first baseman has hit to a .267 average, 12 home runs with 43 RBIs and 44 runs in 90 games this season, boasting a career OPS+ of 114. 

With two more years of club control, Mountcastle presents a valuable trade asset for teams seeking offensive reinforcement. 

Trading him could clear space for rising stars like Jackson Holliday and Coby Mayo, enhancing roster flexibility and addressing the team's needs.

Cedric Mullins, 29, has been a key figure in the Orioles' outfield throughout his seven-year career. 

This season, Mullins has contributed a .216/.258/.378 triple-slash line, 10 home runs, 32 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases across 90 games. 

Despite a standout 2021 season that saw him earn an All-Star selection and a Silver Slugger award, Mullins' recent performance has declined. 

Trading him could make room for emerging talents like Anthony Santander, Colton Cowser, and Heston Kjerstad. 

With Mullins under team control through 2025, he remains an attractive option for teams looking for an experienced outfielder with proven production.
