MLB Trade Rumors: Max Scherzer Speaks On Waiving No-Trade Clause

Max Scherzer has made it clear that he has no intention of waiving his no-trade clause, despite being at the center of trade rumors as the July 30 deadline approaches.

In a recent interview on the "Foul Territory" podcast with A.J. Pierzynski, Scherzer firmly dismissed the idea of being traded. "Yeah, I'm not gonna do that," he stated when asked about the possibility.

Scherzer expressed confidence in the Texas Rangers' ability to improve their performance and make a playoff push, saying, "I just don't think I even have to think about that. We're going to play better baseball. It's going to be a moot point to even talk about. I think we're going to win here."

Despite the Rangers' challenging season, currently 5.5 games behind the top spot in the American League West and seven games back from the AL's third wild-card spot, Scherzer remains committed to the team.

Acquired from the New York Mets last July, Scherzer played a key role in the Rangers' World Series victory, and his recent performance, including a 3.09 ERA over 23.1 innings, demonstrates his continued value to the club.

Scherzer's refusal to consider a trade is significant given his history of being moved at two of the past three trade deadlines.

With his three-year, $130 million contract set to expire after this season, Scherzer's focus remains on helping the Rangers make a late-season push.

Currently in his 17th MLB season, the 39-year-old holds a 3.14 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, with 3,390 strikeouts across 2,862 innings and 462 appearances (453 starts).
