MLB Trade Rumors: Mariners Linked To Trade For All-Star Slugger

Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report has made a bold prediction that the Seattle Mariners will acquire All-Star slugger Isaac Paredes from the Tampa Bay Rays before the trade deadline.

Paredes, who has been a standout performer this season with a .261/.364/.459 triple-slash line, 18 doubles, 15 home runs, and 50 RBIs in 91 games, is under team control through 2027.

Despite his impressive performance, the Rays, currently holding a .500 record and standing fourth in the AL East, might consider trading him due to their perpetual need to manage a tight budget and the potential for his arbitration salary to skyrocket.

For the Mariners, who rank near the bottom in several key offensive categories for third basemen, acquiring Paredes could provide the much-needed boost to their lineup.

Currently, the Mariners are struggling offensively, ranking 28th in runs scored per game, and their third basemen have been particularly underperforming, as noted by Reuter.

Paredes has emerged as a key player for the Rays since being acquired from the Detroit Tigers in 2022, boasting an impressive offensive record with 66 home runs in 1,325 plate appearances.

Adding Paredes' power and consistency would complement their strong pitching staff, giving them a significant push towards a postseason run.
