MLB Trade Rumors: 2 Teams Lead The Hunt in Pursuit of Jazz Chisholm

The Jazz Chisholm sweepstakes are starting to take form as we sit just two weeks out from the major league baseball's trade deadline. The Miami Marlins are determined to trade their former All-Star, so much so that they've recently re-positioned him back at second base to showcase his versatility and expand his potential suitors.

According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, two teams seem to be at the top of the list of Chisholm destinations, with the Seattle Mariners "emerging as the favorites to land him."

It's no secret that the Mariners have been looking for offense this season—all season long, really. They currently sit 28th in OPS in the majors (.667), and dead-last in batting average (.219).

Chisholm can give them a boost in both the power and speed department. He's currently sitting on 12 homers and 18 stolen bases, with a .727 OPS.

The Kansas City Royals also have expressed interest in Chisholm, and they are, as per GM J.J. Picollo, looking for a player who can play both the outfield and the infield, which makes Chisholm's couple of appearances back at his old position of second base a very intriguing development.

“Offensively, you always want to add a bat somewhere — lengthen your lineup,” said Picollo recently on The Windup podcast. "We have three or four guys that are in the lineup every day, and we mix and match a lot, so it doesn’t necessarily have to be an outfielder, but somebody who could play outfield and infield would be ideal.

It's looking like a two-team race to strike the right note to land Jazz from the Fish.
