MLB Rumors: Yankees & Marlins Talking Blockbuster Trade

The New York Yankees and Miami Marlins have reportedly engaged in discussions about a blockbuster trade for star player Jazz Chisholm Jr., according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

The Yankees, who are struggling with a 6-17 record since June 15, are looking to bolster their roster ahead of the July 30 trade deadline to enhance their chances for a World Series run.

Chisholm, a versatile 26-year-old infielder and outfielder, has been a standout performer this season with 11 home runs, 41 RBIs, and a .256 batting average through 89 games.

His ability to play both infield and outfield would address key needs for the Yankees, adding depth and flexibility to their lineup.

Chisholm, an All-Star second baseman in 2022, has continued to impress with his performance and versatility.

His successful transition to center field in 2023, combined with his solid stats in the current season, make him an appealing target for the Yankees.

The Seattle Mariners have also shown interest in Chisholm, but the Yankees are particularly keen on his ability to fill infield gaps and provide additional options for giving Aaron Judge more opportunities at DH.

Chisholm's skills and long-term team control through 2026 make him a valuable asset for the Yankees' postseason aspirations.

For the Marlins, currently at the bottom of the NL East with a 32-60 record, trading Chisholm aligns with their rebuilding strategy.

The Marlins have already traded two-time batting champion Luis Arráez to the San Diego Padres earlier this season and are poised to continue offloading key players.

Reliever Tanner Scott has also attracted interest from several teams, including the Yankees, indicating more moves could be on the horizon.

By focusing on future prospects, the Marlins aim to build a competitive team in the coming years, making Chisholm's potential departure a significant step in their long-term planning.
