Marlins Claim Former Top Prospect Off Waivers From Braves

The Miami Marlins have bolstered their outfield depth by claiming outfielder Forrest Wall off waivers from the Atlanta Braves.

Wall, 28, who has been optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville, brings speed and versatility to the Marlins' organization.

This season, Wall appeared in 13 games for the Braves, hitting .241/.313/.241 and successfully stealing 8 bases in 12 attempts.

While his major league sample size is small, he has been a consistent performer in Triple-A Gwinnett, where he posted a .279/.380/.411 slash line with 12 steals in 51 games.

Wall is known for his speed, ranking in the 93rd percentile for average sprint speed among major leaguers. His versatility extends beyond the outfield as he has logged over 2100 innings at second base in his career, making him a flexible asset for the Marlins.

With two minor league option years remaining, Wall offers the Marlins valuable flexibility in managing their roster. His acquisition did not require any additional roster moves, as the Marlins already had an open spot on their 40-man roster.

Miami's long-term outfield situation has been a topic of discussion, and Wall’s addition could be good if the team decides to trade center fielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. or other outfielders like Bryan De La Cruz or Jesus Sanchez.

Wall was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the first-round (35th overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft.
