Leading Contender Named for White Sox Starter Erick Fedde

With all the talk about Tarik Skubal and Garrett Crochet, one solid starter that may have fallen under the radar at the trade deadline is Chicago White Sox veteran Erick Fedde.

But he has continued his breakout season, sitting now with a 2.99 ERA and a 7-3 mark for a team that is FIFTY GAMES under .500.

And according to insider Bob Nightengale, the St. Louis Cardinals have "strong interest" in the right-hander, and as a team determined to add to their rotation, they have become a leading contender to land the White Sox arm.

Fedde is a former first-round pick, but after years of mediocrity in the major leagues, went to Korea for the 2023 season, and came back a new man this year.

After posting an ERA in the mid-5.00s in his first five full seasons in the majors, Fedde went to Korea last year and went a stunning 20-6 with a 2.00 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP and a 209:35 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He's obviously carried that major confidence boost with him back to The Show this season.

The Cardinals are definitely going to be adding to their rotation, which has an average age of 35.5 and could use a solid boost. They are hanging on to the 2nd Wild Card spot, but only 1.5 games up on three other teams gunning for those final two playoff berths.
