Insider Names 3 Leading Suitors For Garrett Crochet

He's the cream of the crop among starting pitching trade candidates over the next week and a half. Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox has a ton of suitors, although according to insider Jon Heyman, the New York Yankees aren't necessarily one of them. "One person said the Yankees 'are not that into' him," writes Heyman.

But these three top contenders are, according to the insider:

Los Angeles Dodgers

Naturally, if there's a coveted player out there, the Dodgers can't be far behind. The team's starting rotation has been ravaged by injuries the last year or two, and they could certainly use a pitcher like Crochet who leads the majors in:

  • Games started (20)
  • Strikeouts (150)
  • K/9 innings (12.6)
  • FIP (fielding independent pitching): 2.36

And of course, the Dodgers have plenty of top prospects that they could package up for the White Sox to get a big jump on their rebuild.

San Diego Padres

The Friars have improved their farm system drastically in the past year after several seasons of trading top prospects away for the likes of Juan Soto and others. They could put a decent package together for the ChiSox for Crochet. They could certainly use a boost for a thin rotation, as they sit just one game back of a Wild Card spot.

Baltimore Orioles

Another team whose starting staff has been absolutely devastated by injuries, yet they still lead the AL East. They will certainly need to beef up the rotation behind Corbin Burnes and Grayson Rodriguez, and Crochet would be a superb fit. And we all know about their No. 1 ranked farm system and the terrific young prospects and major leaguers that they have to offer the White Sox in return.
