Insider Destroys Blue Jays, Says They Absolutely Need To Trade Guerrero

The Toronto Blue Jays are done for the 2024 season. 10 games under .500, dead last in the AL East and the Wild Card completely out of range. They will be sellers at the trade deadline.

But they're sending out signals that they will not be trading their two best assets, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette. Why? Because they intend to 'run it back' and contend in 2025..... Huh?

Veteran and respected MLB insider Ken Rosenthal thinks this is an absolutely ridiculous stance for the Toronto front office to be taking, and insists that they need to trade Guererro now and get something in return.

I've been saying that they should trade him. I'm not buying this idea that the Blue Jays seem to be perpetuating that, 'Ya, we'll come back in 2025 and we'll be really good.' Why would they think that?
They've massively underachieved this year. With this group of players, they are 0-6 in the playoffs this decade. They haven't won a postseason game. So, what more do we need to see?
Are you going to win the World Series next year? When you play in the rugged AL East?? I just don't buy this logic at all!

Rosenthal then goes on to argue that the Jays farm system isn't that good, so they can actually do a quick re-tool by trading Guerrero (and Bichette, we would add) and bring back a nice haul of prospects.

As for Guerrero, sure, the Blue Jays would like to have him on their team going forward, but, as the insider adds:

"But they haven't signed Vladdy! He's a guy that hasn't agreed to an extension. He has one more year after this one... This is a guy that could bring you a ton back (in a trade)! And then you've accelerated your retooling."

At this point, most Blue Jays fans would like to see Rosenthal as the Toronto GM rather than Ross Atkins.

Incidentally, fans at the Rogers Centre started chanting "Fire Atkins!" during their most recent loss.
