TRADE: All-Star Jack Flaherty Has New Home in National League

The Jack Flaherty sweepstakes have been completed, per insider Jeff Passan, who is reporting that the All-Star is heading from the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers have been desperate to add an impact arm to their rotation, and Flaherty is about as impact as it gets at this trade deadline. He's having a terrific comeback season, with a 2.95 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP along with an outstanding 133:19 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 106.2 innings.

The Dodgers are sending their No. 8 prospect C/1B Thayron Liranzo along with their No. 22, shortstop Trey Sweeney to Detroit.

For the Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw has just finally begun his 2024 season, joining Tyler Glasnow at the top of the rotation, but Yoshinobu Yamamoto, out with a strained rotator cuff, is only "hopeful" he can be back on the mound before the end of the season. Also, Walker Buehler is out for another week, and his comeback this season from Tommy John surgery has not gone well to this point.

Flaherty adds another instant ace, and gives them a vaunted three starters to take into a postseason series, with Glasnow and Kershaw.
