Adam is a powerful late-inning arm for the Padres bullpen, as the team tried to maintain its Wild Card spot down the stretch. He'll join All-Star Robert Suarez at the back end of games for the Friars. He has a 2.49 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP and has averaged 10.7 K/9 through his career.
The Jason Adam deal, first reported by @ByRobertMurray, is the latest to deliver impact prospect to the Rays. Their decision to sell in a thin market has added immense talent to an already-good minor league group. They may well have the best farm system in baseball by July 31.

Lesko, 20, was San Diego's No. 3 prospect, with an ETA in The Show of 2026. He was a first-round pick in 2022, though is struggling with his control in High-A this season. But as noted by Jeff Passan, he is "an impact prospect", and the Rays "well have the best farm system in baseball by July 31."
In addition to Lesko, the Rays get outfielder Homer Bush Jr. and a third prospect
