Kevin Kiermaier, the 12-year veteran outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, has announced his plans to retire after the 2024 season.

In an interview with Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Kiermaier stated, “This is it, 2024 is it for me. This next week will be very interesting in terms of a potential trade. But this will be my last year playing. I’m going to give it my all the rest of the year regardless of what situation I’m in. But my body is talking to me now more than ever.”

At 34, Kiermaier is ready to conclude a career marked by both exceptional defensive prowess and frequent injuries.

Kiermaier's professional baseball journey began in 2010 when the Tampa Bay Rays selected him in the 31st round of the MLB Draft.

He made his MLB debut in 2013 and quickly became known for his aggressive style of play and highlight-reel catches.
