Blue Jays Rumors: Bo Bichette Lands With Dodgers In Proposed Trade

Bo Bichette continues to struggle mightily this season , but so do the Toronto Blue Jays, meaning a potential trade of the two-time All-Star and co-face of the Jays franchise, could be on the horizon in four weeks' time.

Toronto will continue to deny it, but with the team wallowing in last place in the AL East, eight games under .500 and eight games back of a Wild Card spot, this team will have to be a seller.

With that, rumors will continue to flow, and we've got a juicy one, a proposed blockbuster mock trade courtesy of Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report, that would send Bichette to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a slew of top young prospects. It would look like this:

LA Dodgers Receive:

  • Bo Bichette
Toronto Blue Jays Receive:
  • SS Joendry Vargas (No. 3 LAD prospect)
  • LHP Justin Wrobleski (No. 6 LAD prospect)
  • OF Zyhir Hope (No. 10 LAD prospect)

The Blue Jays can start their rebuild with some prime prospects, since this Ross Atkins/Mark Shapiro version of the team is obviously not going to pan out, having won 0 (zero) playoff games in this, the 8th year of the 'rebuild.'

Vargas, an 18-year-old top shortstop prospect, is the Dodgers' No. 3 prospect, and is batting .313 in Rookie League this year, with 13 extra-base hits and nine stolen bases with a .914 OPS in 29 games. The 6'4" athlete can hit, hit for power and can run.

They would also get a left-hander in Justin Wrobleski who is much closer to the majors, pitching in AA and AAA this season, and striking out 14.8 batters at Triple-A. He's LA's No. 6 prospect, while outfielder Zyhir Hope is also on the Dodgers' Top-10 list.

For LA, they get their shortstop (or second baseman perhaps) of the future, with a career slashline of .292/.334/.470 for a 121 OPS+. Bichette has averaged 24 home runs and 89 RBI over the last three years before this one.
