Breaking: Top Blue Jays Prospect Suspended 80 Games For Drug Use
As if things couldn’t get any worse for the struggling Toronto Blue Jays, they’ve now learned that one of their top prospects, just two days after his MLB debut, Orelvis Martinez, has been suspended for 80 games for PED use.
Toronto Blue Jays infielder Orelvis Martinez has been suspended 80 games for violating MLB’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Martinez, 22, is Toronto’s top hitting prospect and made his big league debut Friday.

Martinez has released a statement through the MLBPA claiming that the banned substance was contained in a drug he was given by a fertility clinic.

Martinez was the Blue Jays top hitting prospect, and had launched 16 homers this season at Triple-A Buffalo, with an OPS of .867.
The infielder made his Toronto debut on Friday, going 1-for-3 with an error. But it's his error in judgment off the field that will cost him the rest of the 2024 season.
