4 Potential Trade Destinations For Alex Bregman

The Houston Astros remain eight games back of the first-place Seattle Mariners in the American League West, and six games back of a Wild Card spot. Could they be sellers at next month's trade deadline?

The possibility is there, and if they do, impending free agent third baseman Alex Bregman should be a player they look to move. The 30-year-old veteran has picked it up lately after a slow start, and there are a few teams that could be in on trying to land the two-time All-Star.

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs have been linked to most of the big offensive names that could be available on the trade market this year, and Bregman should be no exception. Christopher Morel has been manning third, and while the power numbers are there, he's batting just .197 with an OPS+ of 90.

Detroit Tigers

AJ Hinch, the Tigers manager, knows all about what Bregman can do, having been his manager during the (asterisked) Astros World Series season of 2017 and the following two All-Star seasons for the third-sacker. The Tigers are in desperate need of a veteran bat to give the team a lift.

New York Yankees/LA Dodgers

These two teams come as an entry, because while it would help both World Series contenders to bring in a corner man of Bregman's playoff experience and offensive abilities, it would be equally wild to see a member of the 2017 trashcan-banging Astros come into either of those clubhouses—both of them at the top of the aggrieved parties list from the Astros cheating scandal.

We can only hope.
