Skenes was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft less than a year ago by the Pirates. The 6'6", 235-pound right-hander is, as described by MLB Pipeline, an imposing presence on the mound. His fastball topped out at 102 mph while in college at LSU.
This season, he has a 0.99 ERA over 7 starts at AAA, a WHIP of 0.91 and a 45:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 27 innings.

He'll now join this season's other rookie pitching phenom already on the Pirates' staff, Jared Jones.
Paul Skenes is up and joining Jared Jones...that's gonna be a problem.

Skenes is currently +1700 at @FDSportsbook for Rookie of the Year. 🤫 pic.twitter.com/Hci6AyD9Uw
At LSU last year, Skenes struck out a ridiculous 209 batters in just 122 innings while walking only 20 for a 0.75 WHIP.
This should be some kinda fun to watch.
