MLB Trade Rumors: "It's Possible" Blue Jays Making Shocking Trade This Summer
This summer, the Toronto Blue Jays are at the center of a potential blockbuster trade that could shake the foundations of Major League Baseball, as noted by Ken Rosenthal.
The speculation involves none other than Kevin Gausman, a key pitcher whose performance has been crucial for the Jays.
Rosenthal's insights suggest that Toronto, who currently sit at the bottom of the AL East, might be considering leveraging Gausman's high value to orchestrate a trade that could dramatically alter their team composition and strengthen their bid for the playoffs.
Would the @BlueJays deal @KevinGausman if they fall out of it?

It's possible, says @Ken_Rosenthal, but don't count on it.

Despite Gausman's undeniable talent on the mound, Rosenthal hints that the Blue Jays are open to bold maneuvers that could address multiple needs within their roster.
This could all change if the Blue Jays are able to turn their season around in the next couple of months, of course.
So far this season, the 33-year-old holds a 4.95 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, with 37 strikeouts across 36.1 innings and eight starts. However, over his last six starts, Gausman has recorded a 2.67 ERA and 27 strikeouts over 27 innings, so his first two starts this season, coming off injury, have really inflated his numbers this year.

This strategic pivot could see them trading Gausman to acquire a package of players that enhances their capabilities across various positions. Such a move, while risky, indicates Toronto's willingness to make significant changes to enhance their chances of championship success.
Gausman is in the third year of his 5-year, $110M contract ($22M AAV), signed back in 2021.
Again, the Blue Jays' performance in the coming months will undoubtedly impact their decision to potentially trade Gausman.
