BREAKING: A's Announce They Are Done In Oakland

The long and sordid tale of the Oakland Athletics is coming to an end. The A's have officially announced that they are done in Oakland, and will be moving to Sacramento next season.

Insider Jeff Passan says that the A's plan is to move to Sacramento for the 2025-27 seasons, with an option to play there in 2028 as well. They will play in Sutter Health Park which has just over 10,000 seats, but grass outfield seating increases the capacity to 14,000.

Sacramento will serve as the Athletics’ temporary home until their new stadium in Las Vegas is ready, a stadium which has not yet even begun construction.

"We explored several locations for a temporary home, including the Oakland Coliseum," franchise owner John Fisher said in statement. "Even with the long-standing relationship and good intentions on all sides in the negotiations with Oakland, the conditions to achieve an agreement seemed out of reach. We understand the disappointment this news brings to our fans, as this season marks our final one in Oakland. Throughout this season, we will honor and celebrate our time in Oakland, and will share additional details soon."
