Los Angeles Angels Sign Controversial Pitcher

The Los Angeles Angels have made a bold move by signing left-handed pitcher, Amir Garrett, despite his tumultuous history both on and off the field.

Garrett's talent as a relief pitcher is undeniable, yet his career has been punctuated by sporadic volatility, including several high-profile altercations that led to suspensions.

Notably, Garrett was suspended for seven games after an on-field incident against the Chicago Cubs and received a two-game suspension for tossing a drink at a fan during a game against the White Sox.

Despite this, the Angels have opted to take a calculated risk on Garrett, recognizing his potential to bolster their bullpen with his ability to rack up strikeouts.

Last season, the 31-year-old posted a solid 3.33 ERA, with a 1.73 WHIP, with 28 strikeouts across 24.1 innings and 27 appearances with the Kansas City Royals.

While his past behavior may raise concerns, the team seems willing to invest in his talent and provide support to navigate any off-field challenges he may face.

Over his seven-year career, Garrett has compiled a 4.95 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, with 376 strikeouts across 325.1 innings and 322 appearances. Photo Credit: William Purnell-USA TODAY Sports
