MLB Trade Rumors: 3 Potential Trade Destinations for Devin Williams

Devin Williams
won his second NL Reliever of the Year Award in 2023, and comes into the 2024 season as MLB Network's No. 1 ranked relief pitcher.

Could the Milwaukee Brewers actually trade him? He of the 1.53 ERA, 36 saves and 13.3 strikeouts per nine innings?

They just dealt one of the top starters in all of baseball, former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes, and according to MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal, other stars may be next to go. We posited 3 likely landing spots for shortstop Willy Adames yesterday, and now we'll take a look at likely destinations for Williams.

Philadelphia Phillies

Yes, the Phillies are always trying to improve their perennial weak spot, the bullpen. Jose Alvarado will come into the season as the closer, with Seranthony Dominguez and Gregory Soto around for solid late-inning work as well. But landing the undisputed top closer in the league would be a boon for the Phillies, who haven't had that luxury in a long, long time.

Texas Rangers

The defending World Champs spent much of the offseason being cautious about spending due to their uncertain TV deal. That's now been settled for the time being, but the top relievers are all off the market at this point. Trading for a lockdown star like Williams would be a huge get in their attempts at a World Series defense. The bullpen was one of their very few weaknesses last season.

New York Yankees

The Bronx Bombers were said to be in on Josh Hader until he was scooped up by the Houston Astros for $95 million. They have a solid bullpen already with Clay Holmes, Jonathan Loaisiga and Tommy Kahnle. But adding a beast like Williams would give them possibly the most-feared relief corps in the league.
