Insider Links Surprising Team In Trade Rumors For Dylan Cease
The Seattle Mariners' interest in acquiring Dylan Cease from the Chicago White Sox is a topic of considerable speculation in the baseball world.
Despite the Mariners having one of the best starting rotations in the league, the possibility of adding Cease, a 2022 AL Cy Young finalist, has been brought up by MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
Cease's performance has been a mix of highs and lows. In 2022, he had an impressive 14-8 record with a 2.20 ERA, but in 2023, he regressed to 7-9 with a 4.58 ERA.
Despite this, he remains an attractive candidate due to his strong strikeout rate and potential for improvement, particularly given his affordability and control for multiple years.
The Mariners' interest in Cease, however, raises questions, particularly regarding their more pressing need for offense.

Jon Morosi has suggested that acquiring a starting pitcher like Cease could allow the Mariners to trade prospects such as Bryce Miller or Bryan Woo for a significant offensive player.
This strategy aligns with the Mariners' inability to secure a major free agent bat, apart from Mitch Garver.
In terms of potential trade deals, names like Cole Young, Tyler Locklear, and Jose Caballero have been mentioned as possible trade pieces from the Mariners to the White Sox.
