JD Martinez's Top 3 Destinations With Dodgers Out Of Running

With Shohei Ohtani signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2023's DH J.D. Martinez is now superfluous in Hollywood.

Martinez returned to elite DH status in 2023, posting impressive numbers in his one season with the Dodgers at the age of 36. He earned his sixth All-Star Game appearance while blasting 33 home runs with 103 RBI in just 113 games. He also had a 134 OPS+.

Let's have a look at three leading contenders to pay JD Martinez this winter (and safe to say, they won't have to shell out $700 Million for him):

Los Angeles Angels

Certainly, the Angels have a gaping hole at DH now that Ohtani is gone. They could make a move on bringing Martinez down the I-5 to Anaheim, and at least replacing a good chunk of Ohtani's 44 home runs.

Arizona Diamondbacks

This is a team that's gained a lot of traction in the Martinez chase, as they know full well what Martinez can do, as he went bonkers in 2017 after they acquired him, mashing 29 home runs in just 62 games, with a 170 OPS+. The Snakes are looking for more firepower in the lineup.

Seattle Mariners

The M's have lost 59 home runs off their roster from 2023 with Teoscar Hernandez (free agency)Jarred Kelenic and Eugenio Suarez (both traded) all no longer in Seattle. Improving their offense has been a stated desire of Jerry Dipoto this winter.

Other possibilities include other teams that were spurned by Ohtani, most notably the Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs.
