Top 3 Free Agent Destinations For Teoscar Hernandez
Teoscar Hernandez's first year away from the Rogers Centre in Toronto didn't quite live up to his usual expectations. He finished his year with the Seattle Mariners with his lowest average (.258), slugging (.435), OPS (.741) and OPS+ (106) in four years. He hit 26 HR with 93 RBIs.
The good news is that his road splits were much better, at .295/.344/.486 away from the friendly pitching confines of Seattle, and he still provided plenty of power. He's only 31, so he still should have some power to offer the right club.
Let's have a look at three top free agent destinations for Hernandez:
Miami Marlins
The Marlins are always looking for offense, and with Jorge Soler likely leaving in free agency, Hernandez could be a realistic replacement. The Fish need offense, and preferably at a reasonable price. Teo fits the bill here.
Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox are rumored to be moving on from right fielder Alex Verdugo this offseason, and DH Justin Turner could also leave via free agency. Hernandez is familiar with the AL East, and could have a nice season assaulting the Green Monster in left field.
Toronto Blue Jays
Teo was a clubhouse favorite in six season in Toronto, and the Jays are looking to fix their offense after GM Ross Atkins miscalculated last winter and took far too big of a chunk out of it trying to plug other holes. A reunion with Hernandez would add some much-needed thump back into the lineup, and could even have the side benefit of rejuvenating his good buddy Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
