Oakland A’s Begin Free Agency By Re-Signing 7-Year Veteran
Don't let anyone tell you that the Oakland A's won't wade into free agency. There they were today, right after the conclusion of the World Series, signing a free agent pitcher...
Well, it's not a move that will rock baseball's foundation this winter, but the A's have re-signed their own free agent hurler Sean Newcomb to a deal.
Free-agent pitcher Sean Newcomb and the Oakland A’s are in agreement on a contract, according to a source familiar with the deal.

It's a one-year contract for Newcomb worth $1M, according to Jon Heyman.
The one-time promising Atlanta Braves starter, Newcomb has been reduced to a relief role while bouncing between Triple-A and the majors the past few years, and spent just 15 innings with the A's this past season (though performed well in that limited sample size, with a 3.00 ERA).
Injuries were a problem for Newcomb in 2023, as his season ended early following left knee lateral meniscus surgery.
Overall in his career, the left-hander has a 4.47 ERA in 421 innings, with 9.2 K/9.
