Padres Make Huge Decision On Manager Bob Melvin
There had been rumblings that San Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin and general manager AJ Preller had not been seeing eye-to-eye after a dreadful season for the big-spending Friars. Now the two will indeed be parting ways, as the Padres have given Melvin permission to interview for the manager's job with the San Francisco Giants. he immediately becomes the top candidate for the job in The Bay.

Imagine how much the relationship must have deteriorated for the Padres to allow Melvin to potentially go to a heated division rival.
With Bob Melvin being granted permission to talk to the Giants, hard to imagine them interviewing the manager of a division rival then rejecting him! Even harder to imagine him returning to SD after showing interest in managing their rival!!

The Giants let manager Gabe Kapler go after their own disappointing season in 2023, and now are apparently looking to hire Melvin after just his second season in San Diego, with still one year remaining on that contract.
Melvin played for the Giants back in the '80s, and has compiled a .516 winning percentage in his 20 years managing in the big leagues.
