MLB Rumors: Two Internal Candidates Leading The Way For San Diego Padres Job
The San Diego Padres made a late run at the 2023 MLB post-season, but unfortunately fell short, and after seeing Manager Bob Melvin depart for the division rival San Francisco Giants, they now have a major opening of their own at the position.
Unsurprisingly, this young Padres team, loaded with young talent will reportedly look inwards for their next Manager, with Mike Shildt and Ryan Flaherty expected to be the next Manager of the Padres as they look to finally fulfil their potential.
The team will also have a major decision to make on Juan Soto and his future, as well as Blake Snell and Josh Hader hitting the free agent market, so whatever decision they make this winter, it will have a major impact on the future of one of baseball's most loaded teams. The "current expectation" is that the Padres will hire Mike Shildt or Ryan Flaherty as their new manager, even if they interview external candidates
