Report: San Francisco Giants Expected To Announce New Veteran Manager
The San Francisco Giants started 2023 well, but due to injuries and the lack of experience in their lineup, they fell away in the second half and missed the post-season for the second straight season, ultimately leading to the departure of Manager Gabe Kapler.
After interviews with several internal candidates and reports that the Giants were interviewing San Diego Padres Manager Bob Melvin, it's now expected that San Francisco will name the 61-year old as their next Manager.
Melvin most recently worked as the San Diego Padres Manager, where he went 171-153 over two years in charge, and now, with the youth movement coming through in San Francisco, they will hope the old-school manager can serve better than Kapler, who many believe relied too heavily on analytics, and too little on the feel of the game. The Giants are expected to name Bob Melvin as their next manager, per @extrabaggs pic.twitter.com/Kf3EccmZDL
