Cincinnati Reds Place 10-Year Veteran Pitcher On Waivers
Chasen Shreve, a 33-year-old left-handed pitcher, embarked on a rollercoaster journey during the 2023 baseball season.
He initially started with the Detroit Tigers after signing a minor league deal and impressed enough to earn a spot on their Opening Day roster.
However, his tenure with the Tigers was short-lived, as the team decided to prioritize younger players, leading to his release in August.

Subsequently, Shreve found himself in the Cincinnati Reds' roster due to their COVID-related pitching needs. During his brief time with the Reds, he showcased promise, allowing just one earned run in 3.1 innings.
Despite posting a combined 4.63 ERA for the season, Shreve's solid strikeout and walk rates, coupled with his career ERA of 3.97 over 367 appearances, have piqued the interest of other clubs.
Notably, the Tigers are responsible for his remaining salary, making him an appealing option for teams looking to bolster their pitching staff.
If he clears waivers, he has the option to choose free agency, although he won't be eligible to participate in the postseason with another team this year. Photo Credit: Kareem Elgazzar/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK
