Blue Jays Add Former Yankees Star To Roster
The Toronto Blue Jays are running out of time to get back into a Wild Card spot, but they've added a huge piece to the bullpen today to help in those efforts, activating former New York Yankees star reliever Chad Green.

Green made 12 rehab appearances in the minors over the past six weeks after coming back from a season-long recovery from Tommy John surgery while with the Yankees in May of 2022.
The Jays signed him this past offseason to a deal that paid him $2.25M for this season, and then a team option for three additional years at $27M. If Toronto doesn't pick up that 3-year option, Green then has the opportunity to enact a $6.25M player option if he so chooses. A lot riding on the next month for Green not only for his future earnings, but also for the Jays and their fight for a playoff spot.
Green was a relief star for the Yankees in his seven seasons there, posting a combined 3.17 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 11.6 K/9.
He'll join an already-loaded bullpen in Toronto, with Jordan Romano, Jordan Hicks, Tim Mayza and Trevor Richards (Erik Swanson is on the IL).
