Toronto Blue Jays Sign José Bautista
José Bautista is back with the Toronto Blue Jays, as he has signed a one-day contract to retire as a member of the club he will forever be remembered most for playing for.
Bautista's best seasons in the majors came as a Blue Jay. In 10 seasons with the team, he played in 1,235 games, where he had 288 home runs to go along with a .253 batting average. He also was a six-time All-Star with the team and won three Silver Slugger Awards in the process.
Bautista had trouble cementing himself as an everyday player before his move to the Blue Jays but became a star upon his arrival. During the final season of his career in 2018, he also struggled, as he had a .203 batting average in 122 games split between the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, and Philadelphia Phillies.
Nevertheless, this was not the best way to go out, as Bautista's greatest days came as a Blue Jay. Now, he will finally get the chance to retire with the team, and that is great to see. Congrats to Bautista on an excellent career.
