Report: Veteran Outfielder Elects To Hit Free Agency
The New York Yankees have made some questionable decisions this year, and late last week, they made yet another one, despite the fact that everyone in the organization is adamant they are in it to win a World Series in 2023.
Late last week, the team decided to DFA veteran outfielder Willie Calhoun, and today, it was confirmed that he has elected free agency, making a statement saying: "The Yankees weren't in it to win it anymore. This was a decision I made for my legacy".
In 44 games this season, Calhoun hasn't been at his best, hitting just .239 with 5 home runs and 16 RBI, and now, he'll be hitting the free agent market hoping to find a team that needs a solid veteran bat ahead of a playoff chase.Willie Calhoun on electing free agency:
