Milwaukee Brewers Sign Veteran Lefty Pitcher
The Milwaukee Brewers made a move by signing left-handed pitcher Fernando Abad to a minor-league contract.
The 37-year-old experienced pitcher, boasting 11 seasons in the MLB, joined the Brewers after being released by the Colorado Rockies earlier in the 2023 season.

Abad's initial performance this year with the Rockies was challenging, resulting in a 4.26 ERA, a 2.21 WHIP, three walks, and two strikeouts over a brief 6.1 innings out of the bullpen.
However, Abad's stint in Triple-A Albuquerque demonstrated improvement, as he achieved a 3.86 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, three saves, and 32 strikeouts across 30.1 innings spanning 26 relief appearances.
The Brewers' decision to bring him aboard aims to fortify their left-handed relief options, which have shown some instability over the course of the season.
There is no such thing as Abad depth minor league signing.

Notably, Abad's signing before September 1 makes him eligible for potential postseason participation if the Brewers qualify and elect to include him in the roster, adding a strategic dimension to this acquisition. Photo Credit: Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports
