MLB Rumors: Boston Red Sox Listening to Offers for Outfielder

According to MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo and Sean McAdam, the Boston Red Sox are open to hearing offers for outfielder Alex Verdugo. They also noted that the Red Sox brought up Verdugo's name while having trade talks with an AL team.

The Red Sox are in a peculiar spot at the deadline. Although they sport a solid 56-49 record, they are also fourth in the AL East standings, and the New York Yankees are just one game behind them. Due to this, their playoff hopes are far from guaranteed, and they could elect to sell off some assets to improve their roster elsewhere because of it. They already started this process by moving Enrique Hernandez.

Verdugo's name has been in the rumor mill during the weeks leading up to the deadline, and this report shows that the Red Sox are at least open to the prospect of moving him.

In 94 games this season, Verdugo has seven home runs, 39 RBIs, and a .272 batting average. He would be a decent addition for a playoff team looking to improve their outfield.

We will need to wait and see if the Red Sox move Verdugo from here.
